ALL AROUND :

 

The Biellese also shows lots of unmodified natural places. Actually the Biellese owns four Natural Reserves recognized by Regione Piemonte:

 

-        The natural reserve of Burcina, recognized in a particular way for it 150 different species of rhododendrons from Asia ;

-        The natural reserve of Baraggia, which really seems an African savannah, at first sight without any border ;

-        The natural reserve of Bessa, that is an open gold mine , how it was at the Roman’s age ;

-        The natural riserve of Sacro Monte di Oropa. The Biellese is a sanctuaries land and the most famous is exactly the one of Oropa, where we venerate the Black Virgin. The sanctuary is situated in an enchanting place at 1200 m height.

 

Moreover there are a lot of other places completely untouched. For example:

 

-        The oasi Zegna, object of a particular project of natural value ;

-        The lake of Viverone, which owns particular houses built on lake-dwelling .

 

In the east Biellese we can also find small medieval villages reach in history and traditions :

 

-        The Mortigliengo, which includes also Casapinta, Mezzana with its « Ecomuseo », Strona, Soprana and Crosa ;

-        The Ricetto di Candelo, small medieval burg, one of the best preserved in Europe;

-        The Fabbrica della Ruota in Pray, archaeological industrial monument, the only example in Italy of  teledynamical transmission of energy ;

      -     The Piazzo in Biella, the high and historical part of the city.

-        Bielmonte, well-known tourist destination  which offers entertainment both in summer, with all its excursions or with the summer bob-sleigh, and in winter, thanks to the snow and the skiing complexes.
